Did you know that just by writing a goal down, you become 42% more likely to reach that goal?
Challenge: Write down one small step you could take in your next social interaction. It should be something that feels exciting, not terrifying.
Check the comments below for inspiration. If someone writes something you like, let them know in the comments that they have your support.
To find out one thing about the barista at work, and to share one thing about myself.
Say hi to someone in the neighborhood instead of waiting for them to say hi first
be able to talk to my friends without feeling like I’m not part of the group, or be able to leave the friends that don’t put any effort into the friendship
be able to talk to my friends without feeling like I’m not part of the group, or be able to leave the friends that don’t put any effort into the friendship
start a conversation with someone sitting next to me.
I want to not give up finding my tribe or lose heart making a good reliable friend. I’m fed up of meeting people who are toxic or not the right fit for me. My life is going to end soon and I’m still trying to find one good friend to share have fun be there to support each other go to a movie or workout or dinner or anything. This year I’m going to put in huge effort
– talk to one new person at the event / birthday party
– talk more in group conversations
– tell one exciting story about the past few days
Get out more and do something that interests me. Try a new activity.
Chat to a neighbor I don’t know yet.
Wave at/greet my neighbour daily.
I will start small talk with someone in the gym.
To say hello first once eye contact has been made
To start a conversation or join an existing conversationat the next social event I go to instead of waiting for people to talk to me
To continue to practice and improve at the art of small talk and accept the fact that not every conversation will be a masterpiece.
Start a few more conversations when hanging out with my group of friends next time (tonight!)
Try to talk a bit more in the next group conversations and share personal things
To hold a conversation a little longer and not cut it short like I usually do to escape any awkwardness. I usually always run away from any interactions with people and try to move on with what I’m doing but I would like to enjoy these moments and not just run away from them. So my goal is to let the conversations run smoothly without trying to run away as quickly as I can.
Love this. I feel the same. Excellent idea Ally.
Be more at ease and confident when I’m around strangers.
To say something to a colleague by the coffee machine
Hold eye contact more consistently during conversation
I will chat with one store clerk or co-worker that I don’t know well each day.
I aim to talk to strangers without hesitation confidently and be more at ease in public.
